This article was originally published in RAJ Devices

Executive Summary

The US Department of Justice is carrying out a formal investigation into the entire medical technology industry to “root out” behaviour that results in violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. The department’s foreign counterparts are also stepping up their anti-bribery enforcement efforts and so companies need to increase their focus on foreign bribery compliance, says Kathleen Hamann, a trial attorney in the fraud section of the DoJ’s Criminal Division. Karen Finn reports from the 2010 International Medical Device Industry Compliance Conference taking place this week in Berlin, Germany.
