Executive Summary

A bill incorporating reforms to update and streamline Australia’s regulatory framework for medical devices was passed by the Senate without amendment on 20 March. The bill – the Therapeutic Goods Amendment (Medical Devices and Other Measures) Bill 2008 [2009] – was introduced in the Senate in December 2008; it will be considered by the House of Representatives in the budget sittings in May1,2.
