Slovakia to change reimbursement access rules for generics and medical devices

Executive Summary

The Slovak ministry of health has proposed that access to reimbursement for generic medicines should be linked to the price of their reference products. This provision – alongside a number of other amendments regarding the reimbursement rules for medicines and medical devices – has been included by the ministry in the country’s Act on healthcare services financed from public funds. The amended Act has been adopted by the Slovak cabinet and forwarded to the Slovak parliament for further discussion.
