Eisai's Spoon-Fed Aricept Form Wins Japanese Approval

Eisai has won Japanese approval for its spoon-fed Aricept (donepezil) drug for treating Alzheimer's disease. Instead of the tablet and granular forms for which Eisai already has approval, the medicine is delivered in a honey-lemon flavored jelly. The jelly version is intended for the elderly and others who have difficulty swallowing pills. Eisai plans to launch the new form of Aricept early this coming winter.
