Taiwan has opened a university hospital center dedicated to conducting early-stage clinical trials of drugs, with an emphasis on cancer treatments. The National Health Research institutes and the National Cheng Kung University Hospital formed the project to conduct Phase I and Phase II trials. Taiwanese and foreign pharmaceutical companies together already have commissioned the center to conduct trials on about 40 cancer drugs they want to test, about one-fifth of them from local firms.
