This article was originally published in PharmAsia News

Executive Summary

Following the passing of China's food safety law, the country's Ministry of Health has stressed the establishment of an integrated food safety coordinating mechanism. The ministry will: (1) enhance the food safety supervision system by setting up within two years a surveillance database for food safety risk factors and food-borne diseases; (2) prepare for the formation of a national commission and a center for food safety risk evaluation; (3) improve food safety information management as well as build an incident investigation and response system; and (4) strengthen team molding of experts and personnel for food safety standards.
