Hong Kong To Tighten Regulations, Culture Governing Pharmaceuticals

The Hong Kong government has appointed a special committee to study the region's pharmaceutical supplies and regulations, culture and supervision of all stakeholders, from drug makers to consumers. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region announced the move in the wake of recent incidents involving mishandled and mislabeled drugs and equipment, incorrect expiration dates on` painkillers and medicines with excessive fungus, triggering six deaths. The government said violations uncovered would be dealt with seriously and at the end of the probe would consider whether new legislation is needed to prevent recurrences. (Click here for more
