A Phase I clinical trial of Vietnam's avian-influenza vaccine produced positive results, according to the head of the Military Medical Institute where the trial was conducted. The Fluvax H5N1 vaccine produced in Vietnam demonstrated no side effects among the 30 military students tested over the past three months with a two-shot regimen. The country's Vaccine and Bio-technology Products Company No. 1 developed the vaccine from cells taken from the kidneys of monkeys.
