French drug maker Sanofi-Aventis plans to expand its year-old development center in India to market non-specialty domestic drugs to rural areas. The firm plans to emphasize cough and cold medicines and treatments for infections and minor ailments. The managing director of Aventis Pharma, Sanofi's India branch, said the company seeks to acquire "suitable brands and businesses here."
