Swiss Reinsurance has announced that it will open a wholly owned subsidiary late this year in China to provide health consultancy services. The new setup, Beijing Prestige Health Consulting Services Co., will offer third-party comprehensive management and relevant consulting services to hospitals, underwriters, policyholders and employers. A recent analysis by Swiss Reinsurance shows that China's 2007 health care expenditure crossed $137 billion, 52 percent of which was paid directly by families.
