The Japanese government has called on Japanese manufacturers and importers to increase their scrutiny and inspections of Chinese pharmaceutical and food products in the wake of recent scandals about tainted Chinese pharmaceutical and food products. Most recently on May 29, a private hospital in southern Beijing was caught and exposed for harboring an illegal pharmaceutical factory producing fake medicines, including production of a fake cure-all wonder drug. Hospital patients themselves were victims of fraudulent treatment.
