As China pursues healthcare reforms to improve insurance coverage and access to care, some of the challenges and strategies in this process are examined in a new series of papers in The Lancet. Inappropriate use of drugs for profit reasons and high out-of-pocket costs emerge as two of the major problems with the present system.
