Ministers OK new EU R&D funding program

Executive Summary
Member state ministers have given the go-ahead to the EU's new research and innovation program, Horizon 2020, which will includes funded projects in areas such as regenerative medicine, drugs for rare diseases, and clinical biomarker validation. Horizon 2020 will run for seven years from 2014, replacing the seventh framework program (FP7), which expires at the end of this year.
