Amgen appoints Greg Garland to board

Thousand oaks, California-headquartered Amgen has named Greg C Garland to its board of directors. Mr Garland is currently chair, president and chief executive officer of energy manufacturing and logistics company, Phillips 66. He will serve on the governance and nominating committee and the audit committee of Amgen's board. Mr Garland is also a member of the engineering advisory board for Texas A&M University. Following his appointment, Amgen's board will comprise 13 directors, 12 of whom are independent.
