Claris-manufactured IV antibiotics recalled in US

Executive Summary

The US FDA has issued a public health alert warning healthcare professionals not to use certain IV medications – antibiotics metronidazole and ciprofloxacin, and anti-nausea drug ondansetron – manufactured by Claris Lifesciences, an Indian company, because of potential contamination and non-sterility following the discovery of floating matter in certain bags. Claris has initiated a nationwide voluntary recall of all lots of the three products as a precautionary measure.
