SMEs shouldn’t bank on Late Payments Directive

Executive Summary
Recently, the European Parliament informed us that the latest Late Payments Directive is likely to be late. This is hardly unexpected news, as the new legislative proposal, which is seen as a means of giving extra teeth to the Late Payments Directive of 2000 (2000/35/EC), is clearly controversial. At present the subject of over 200 amendments by MEPs, it has highlighted the contentious issue of delayed payments from hospitals and other public healthcare bodies to medical devices and pharmaceuticals manufacturers.
