UNAIDS appoints executive director

Executive Summary
The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) has appointed Mr Michel Sidibéas its executive director. Mr Sidibé is currently deputy executive director, programmes and assistant secretary general of the United Nations. He brings 27 years' experience in international public health, development and AIDS to the position, including positions with both UNAIDS since 2001 and UNICEF. He is also co-chair of the global task team on improving AIDS coordination among multilateral and international donors.
