Comment: Is Bulgaria's decision to close hospitals premature?

Bulgaria's government is close to implementing major changes to its national healthcare services to tackle its perpetual budget deficit. The changes may involve the closure of up to 150 inefficient hospitals this year, including 21 which are scheduled for closure this month. Some provinces will have only out-patient facilities, health minister Dr Bozhidar Nanev has said.
