Sales of generic drugs in Bulgaria stood at €459 million last year, exceeding those of branded products (€357 million) by almost 30%. The volume of generic drugs sold was more than five times higher than branded medicines (210 million and 40 million packs, respectively). The average price of a branded medicine pack was €9 compared with €2 for a generic product.
