Targacept to raise up to $53 million

Targacept could raise up to $52.9 million in a share offering that it expects to close on October 13th. The company is making a public offering of 2.2 million shares of common stock at $21 per share to raise $46.2 million gross. Its underwriter, Deutsche Bank Securities, has an option to buy an additional 320,000 shares to cover any over-allotments.
