Merck & Co has signed a deal with the US insurer Cigna whereby it will offer increased discounts on its diabetes drugs, Januvia (sitagliptin) and Janumet (sitagliptin plus metformin), if after a set period it can be shown that the health insurer's members on oral antidiabetics have improved A1c values, even if the patients are taking drugs other than Merck's.
