Canadian patient safety receives Cdn$8 million boost

Executive Summary
The Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI) has received renewed government funding of up to Cdn$8 million ($7.9 million) a year for the next five years, to continue to improve patient safety. The CPSI, which collaborates with governments, regulatory bodies and stakeholders to develop effective patient safety strategies, will invest the funding in four key areas: education, research, tools and resources, and interventions and programmes. It will also use the funding to continue promoting patient safety in health sector education and training and safety practices.
