FDA COMMISSIONER ANNOUNCEMENT POSSIBLE BY END OF OCTOBER, the agency's deputy commissioner for policy, William Schultz, indicated in comments to the Food & Drug Law Institute Sept. 3 in Washington, D.C. Asked to comment on the search for a new commissioner, Schultz responded: "Hopefully, there will be something announced relatively soon...before Congress goes out of session." The House and Senate are expected to adjourn before Nov. 1. The Administration is not expected to formally present a nominee until after the FDA reform/Prescription Drug User Fee Act reauthorization bill is passed.
