ZINC SUPPLEMENTATION FOUND TO IMPROVE PREGNANCY OUTCOME in "at least some pregnant women," according to a study published in the Aug. 9 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. Robert Goldenberg, MD, et al., University of Alabama, concluded that a daily dose of 25 mg zinc "in women with relatively low plasma zinc concentrations in early pregnancy is associated with greater infant birth weights and head circumferences," predominantly in women with a body mass index less than 26 kg/m2.
