Von Eschenbach wants to be which McClellan?

Executive Summary

During a recent panel discussion with former CMS Administrator Mark McClellan, FDA Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach said he "would like to do what McClellan is doing" when he leaves his current post at the end of the Bush Administration. After hearing murmurs from the crowd at the American Society of Health Economists meeting at Duke University, von Eschenbach clarified, "Not that McClellan, this McClellan," he adds. Mark McClellan, who previously headed FDA as well as CMS, now is senior fellow and director of the Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform at the Brookings Institution. McClellan's brother Scott has made news with his new memoir critical of the Bush administration during his tenure as White House press secretary
