US genetic test report to get government scrutiny:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

There could be a quick response to recommendations by a National Institutes of Health and Department of Energy working group on genetic testing in the US (see Clinica No 780, pp 1-2). Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala has asked senior staff to report back to her by the end of the year on how to respond to the report, Promoting Safe and Effective Genetic Testing in the United States, which calls for tougher regulation of the genetic testing industry. "There was a lot of interest in the findings," said the report's editor, Neil Holzman.
