Wright Medical has bolstered its orthobiologics product portfolio by buying the foot and ankle surgery unit from AM Surgical, a firm specialising in endoscopic soft tissue release technology. The Arlington, Tennessee-based firm will pay AM an up-front fee of $2.1m for its whole line of foot and ankle-related products, while potential additional payments of up to $700,000 may follow depending on the future financial performance of the acquired technology. Wright has previously been marketing AM’s foot and ankle technology under an exclusive worldwide distribution deal signed in October 2007 (see Clinica 1277, p 14).
