Japan’s Central Social Insurance Medical Council approved on Sept. 4 a new operational plan to ensure that unapproved off-label cancer drugs can come into use more quickly.

The Japanese Central Social Insurance Medical Council approved on Sept. 4 a new operational plan to ensure that unapproved off-label cancer drugs can come into use more quickly. The system, due to start in the second half of 2013, will involve external institutions which are entrusted to decide whether new drugs are to be used in advanced medical treatment, therefore speeding up the evaluation.
