Executive Summary
Ellipse Technologies Inc. has developed a minimally invasive alternative to surgery for children with spinal scoliosis. The Ellipse MAGEC System procedure implants one or two titanium rods in the spine, each containing a miniaturized magnetic motor. During follow-up visits in the physician's office, the magnetic motor is remotely activated to adjust the length of the rod, thereby lengthening and straightening the spine.
