As part of that commitment, the government set up the Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation (BiotechCorp) in 2005, as one of the action plans under the National Biotechnology Policy, under the purview of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. BiotechCorp's goal is to identify value propositions in both R&D and commerce and support these ventures via financial assistance and other means.
