Chondrial Therapeutics Inc. (orphan drugs for mitochondrial diseases) raised $22.6mm in a Series A financing round led by Deerfield Management. Chondrial appointed former Deerfield advisor Carole Ben-Maimon, MD, as its CEO. A minority investment by the Catalyst Fund--a $15mm Wake Forest Innovation technology development fund managed by Pappas Capital--was also part of the round.
