Executive Summary
To expand beyond the cardiac arena into the neuromodulation market, St. Jude Medical has agreed to acquire Advanced Neuromodulation Systems (spinal cord stimulation-SCS--devices) in a tender offer of $1.3bn in cash. St. Jude is paying $61.25 for each of ANS's outstanding shares, a 28% premium to the market average.
