Executive Summary
Reliant Pharmaceuticals (sells ethical pharmaceuticals in primary care and specialty markets) closed a Series D private placement of convertible preferred units in which it raised $78mm. Several previous investors also exchanged secured debt, worth $37mm, for the units. Invemed Catalyst Fund led the round, followed by Bay City Capital Fund III, the Pritzker family businesses, BayStar Capital, and Reliant chairman and CEO Ernest Mario's family interests.
