Hansa Medical CEO Arvidson Dies

Göran Arvidson, the CEO of Swedish biopharmaceutical company Hansa Medical AB, has died suddenly, the company has announced.
His death was "both deeply tragic and completely unexpected", chairman Ulf Wiinberg said in a statement.
Arvidson joined Hansa Medical as CFO in January 2015. He became acting CEO shortly afterwards and was appointed permanent CEO on April 30 the same year. He had long and successful career in the pharmaceutical industry, including previous senior positions at [Pharmacia AB] and Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB (Sobi).
"With his solid experience from the pharmaceutical industry and through his strong and genuine commitment, Göran has been an outstanding strong and skilled leader for Hansa Medical, which, in our view, has become a very promising pharmaceutical company. We are very grateful for the time that we had Göran at the helm," Wiinberg said.
Wiinberg will now serve as acting CEO and board member Birgit Stattin Norinder will take over the role as chairman of the board until further notice.
