Executive Summary
To coordinate the crack-down on counterfeit drug production and sales, China's Ministry of Health, State FDA and 11 relevant ministries will be setting up an inter-ministerial joint conference system. The headquarters for the meeting will be based at SFDA, with the heads of MOH and SFDA respectively acting as convener and deputy convener. When established, the system will conduct a special one-year program to: (1) tighten control of the Internet to arrest the online counterfeit drug trade; (2) bust fake drug sales transacted via express post; (3) strengthen supervision on drug advertisements; (4) standardize drug purchase of healthcare institutions; (5) improve relevant laws and regulations; and (6) launch patient education to promote basic healthcare knowledge.
