Pat O’Mahony, the Irish Medicines Board’s Chief Executive, is a very busy man, successfully juggling his duties at the country’s medicines agency with those performed as the European Medicines Agency's Chair of the Management Board. In fact, under his management, the IMB has significantly increased its involvement in the EU structures and improved its operational effectiveness. And as Dr O’Mahony says, all these efforts – both at EU and national level – are embarked upon by the agency with just one aim in mind – to protect the safety of Irish consumers.
