New finance law sees Denmark pump more funds into health service

Executive Summary

The Danish health sector is set to receive a cash injection of some DKK2bn (€270m) extra in 2009 to improve services. The money, which has been allocated following negotiations on the forthcoming Finance Act 2009between the government coalition partners, the Danish People’s Party and the Liberal Alliance, will be targeted at life-threatening diseases and better treatment for the chronically ill. It also represents a significant increase on the DKK1.6bn extra that was promised in June this year.
