This article was originally published in PharmAsia News

Executive Summary

Human cases of infection with the dengue virus in Japan have now reached 142 people in 17 prefectures.

The total number of dengue fever infections in Japan has reached 142 people in 17 prefectures, after the ministry of health, labour and welfare confirmed a Tokyo woman in her 20s had been infected on Sept. 22. The epidemic is the first of its kind in 70 years in Japan, with most infected subjects confirming they were somewhere near Yoyogi Park in the Shibuya district of Tokyo recently. Last week, infected mosquitos were also found in Ueno Park in northern Tokyo. The MHLW warned that although infections have decreased, mosquitos will continue to transmit the disease until next month, when cooler weather arrives. (Click Here For More – Japanese Language)
