Japan Hypertension Society Amends Treatment Guidelines

The Japanese Society of Hypertension revised its hypertension treatment guidelines, removing beta blockers as the first drug of choice and dividing them into the four classes of Ca-antagonists, ARBs, ACE inhibitors, and diuretics. Beta blockers will still be considered one major class of hypertensive drug particularly in cases of high blood pressure associated with heart disease.
