China’s State council proposed a five-year plan, through 2015, that would raise drug standards and quality across all categories and lift standards for medical equipment. The changes reflect public concerns about the quality of the nation’s medical products. The plan would raise standards for 2,500 designated chemical-based drugs, 2,800 traditional Chinese medicines, 200 biological drug, 350 herbal medicines and 650 TCM components.
