China reports that nearly 10% of adults at least 18 years old have diabetes, and that is half the rate of Chinese who have reached 60 years of age, a report said. The Chinese Health Education Center said 19.6% of China’s 95 million elderly have the disease, 9.7% of Chinese at least 18 years old have it. Other statistics from the report show 12.3% of urban Chinese are diabetic, 8.4% in rural areas. Overall, men are more susceptible than women, 10.2% to 9%.
