India’s major advancement in developing vaccines and producing 60% of those available around the globe has not been felt in the most remote parts of the nation, its science minister told a conference.
Ashwani Kumar, minister of state for Science and Technology, and Earth Sciences, said that although India’s vaccine industry produces the drugs at a low price, the nation’s delivery system hinders them from reaching much of the poor. He said the manufacturing process, whose low prices are the result of social innovation, needs to be tied to delivery efficiency if India’s poorest are to have access. (Click here for more)
