India plans a medical-technology industrial park billed as capable of making medical devices for more than one-quarter less than the price of imports.

The site is the Trivitron Medical Park in Chennai, considered the first in Southeast Asia and planned by GSK Velu. The proposed park, relying on five global players in medical technologies, with perhaps another five joining, is centered on ultrasound systems, including Japan's Aloka.
