Executive Summary
Eisai is set to begin producing its own drugs in Europe, replacing its past practice of outsourcing production. The changeover is to begin by next spring with the packaging of Aricept (donepezil), its Alzheimer's disease drug. The facility in the United Kingdom then is to begin packaging other products and in 2010 plans to begin formulating drug components into pills by using active pharmaceutical ingredients produced in Japan.
