Japan To Import 20 Million New H1N1 Flu Vaccine Doses

Executive Summary

Japan's Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Yoichi Masuzoe announced Japan will purchase new flu vaccines from overseas makers for as many as 20 million people. The plan is to fill a gap in domestic vaccine manufacturing. Japan plans to vaccinate 53 million people by the end of the fiscal year, and four domestic makers are able to produce 30 million vaccines. MHLW will establish funding for the imports.
