Japanese Generic Drug Wholesalers Association Reports ¥96 Billion Sales In 2008

Nihon Generic Iyakuhin Hanbai Kyokai, a trade association representing generic drug wholesalers in Japan, released a first-ever report on annual generic drug sales. Gathered from 63 member companies, the association reported that the total sales reached ¥96.8 billion in 2008, and the industry employs more than 2,400 people, 1,376 of whom are sales representatives. The report also found that Western Japan is leading Eastern Japan in both generic drug sales and the number of wholesalers.
