Medtronic recently established a school for heart rhythm disease management and education in Beijing. As part of Medtronic College, the school will provide systematic specialty training for physicians, technicians and relevant healthcare providers in cardiac pacing and electrophysiology from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. More than 60 local experts have accepted appointments as visiting professors for the school. Medtronic funded and set up China's first corporate college in the healthcare industry as a non-profit training organization to raise doctors' professional and management skills. The college houses 11 schools offering professional education for more than 12,000 physicians in areas such as diabetes management, cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, orthopedics, neural surgery and ENT surgery.
