China To Unveil Health Care Reform Plan Soon

This article was originally published in PharmAsia News

Executive Summary

China's health care reform plan will be announced soon after the National People's Congress and National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference meetings, the Minister of Health revealed recently. RMB 850 billion will be allocated for the reform over the next three years, and a three-year pilot plan will be launched. As for the controversial hospital adjustment fee, the minister expressed that the policy will not take a one-size-fits-all approach for the different regions. He stressed that the goal of health care service price reform is to reduce the current high costs of drugs, medical consumables and diagnostics, while appropriately raising the technical fees and service charges of medical personnel.
