Japan Universities To Require Measles Shots Before Next Term

Japan's universities are launching a measles vaccination program for students before the beginning of the next academic year. According to a national survey, nearly 80 percent of the major schools are acting to prevent outbreaks that may result from a vaccination rate among third-year high school students that has fallen below 50 percent. At least 20 universities are considering vaccination certificates as a prerequisite to enrollment. Although the plans differ, nearly all universities said they were considering preventative measures.
