Japan Association Recommends Antimicrobial Therapy For Helicobacter Pylorus Infections

Executive Summary

The Japan Society for Helicobacter Research Jan. 23 released revised treatment guidance and recommended the use of antimicrobial agents and antimicrobial therapy to all helicobacter pylorus-infected patients. Currently, only gastric and duodenal ulcer patients receive medical insurance coverage for antimicrobial therapy. JSHR plans to petition the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to expand the coverage to other patients. Helicobacter pylorus is identified as a cause of stomach cancer.
